The preliminary nomination dossier for the inclusion of the Tatev Monastery and Vorotan Gorge territories in the UNESCO World Heritage List is now complete. It was prepared based on the work and research of a series of scientific expeditions organized in 2023-2024 with the support of the "301. Land of Wisdom" and Amaryan Charitable Foundations and in cooperation with the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. The dossier was discussed on May 12, 2025, during a practical-scientific conference that took place at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, dedicated to discussing the management approaches for UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The main focus of the conference was on Tatev Monastery and the Vorotan Gorge, which have been included in UNESCO's Tentative List since 1995.
The Director of the Amaryan Charitable Foundation, Aleksandr Khachaturyan, delivered opening remarks at the conference. He emphasized the importance of the project and such workshops, noting that they are a good platform for uniting the communities of the academic, state, and private sectors around one common theme: the preservation and management of heritage. Khachaturyan added that the Foundation was pleased to support the project, also taking into account that the Foundation's founders have roots in the Syunik region and attach great importance to programs aimed at the development of that region. He expressed his gratitude to all participants and parties involved in the program.
