The “Senior Centre for Older People in Syunik” Officially Opens in Goris
On October 16, 2025, the official opening ceremony of the “Senior Centre for Older People in Syunik” took place in Goris. The Center was established by the WINNET Goris Development Foundation with the support of the Amaryan Charitable Foundation, the European Union, and the Embassy of Germany. The Amaryan Charitable Foundation donated 18 million AMD, which was allocated for the purchase of the building, while the European Union and the Embassy of Germany covered part of the renovation expenses.
The Center ensures the well-being of elderly people displaced from Artsakh who are left without family support by providing them with proper living conditions, meals, healthcare, and social services. It includes 24 rooms, a social canteen, and a daytime activity center where residents can participate in cultural and recreational activities.
Representatives from the Syunik Regional Administration, the Goris Municipality, the EU Delegation, and the embassies of EU member states accredited in Armenia, as well as international and local partner organizations, attended the opening ceremony. The attendees received a tour of the facility to see its premises and capabilities.
The “Senior Centre for Older People in Syunik” will become an important hub for ensuring social protection and psychological support for elderly people living alone in the Goris community. It will not only provide care and proper living conditions but also create opportunities for beneficiaries to build new friendships and overcome the feeling of isolation.
